About Aria & FUGUE STUDIO
The Aria and Fugue Studio is a private piano and voice home studio located in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. Lessons are taught in the naturally-lit piano room equipped with a Yamaha Grand Piano. The studio has been in existence since 2008 and has worked profusely for the Chester Springs area ever since, providing music direction, accompaniment, teaching, and judging for hundreds of productions and events at various local schools, theaters, colleges, and competitions. The Aria & Fugue pets are Chester Springs’ resident furry friends and a musician’s favorite cuddle buddies.
Marie ANDERSON
Marie is a sought-after private instructor, music teacher, and accompanist with over 40 years of experience inspiring students to reach their full potential as musicians and performers. Originally from Chicago, she has taught private piano and voice, as well as in elementary, middle, and high schools across the country—building programs that ignite creativity, confidence, and excellence. Marie’s musical expertise spans from Classical repertoire to Broadway, Rock, and Pop, allowing her students to explore music that excites and challenges them at every level. She holds a Master’s of Music Education with Piano Performance from West Chester University and serves as Secretary on the board of the local chapter of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), in addition to her active membership in MLMTA (Main Line Music Teachers Association).
A leader in the performing arts community, Marie’s experience extends far beyond the classroom. She has directed and accompanied choirs of all levels, select ensembles, and competitive show choirs. Her talents also shine in music instruction, concert production, choreography, and costume design—areas in which she has excelled for more than four decades. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Marie’s passion for performance never wavered; she created a monthly outdoor concert series featuring her studio and other local performers, bringing the joy of live music to audiences when it was needed most. Her creativity, adaptability, and vision have inspired both students and professionals alike.
In addition to her extensive musical background, Marie brings a spirited dance and movement expertise, including cheerleading and stage choreography. She has an exceptional gift for helping actors and singers connect movement with storytelling—coaching performers to move authentically and expressively within their songs. Her holistic approach ensures that every student leaves the stage confident, connected, and fully prepared for any performance.
Marie’s summer music and performance camps are an extension of her dynamic teaching philosophy. They offer a supportive, energizing environment where young musicians and performers can grow their skills, make lasting friendships, and experience the thrill of creative collaboration. THEORY AND PERFORMANCE TECHNIQUES FOR THE SINGER
Build confidence and practical skills for rehearsals, high school choir, musicals, and auditions! Students will learn how to follow vocal music, practice basic sight-singing and note reading, and understand common musical symbols. We’ll also explore vocal exercises and rehearsal techniques to help singers feel prepared and successful in any performance setting.
No instrumental experience is required - we’ll teach you how to read and follow music in a fun, approachable way. As part of the course each singer will work on an individual song that serves as a hands-on tool for learning music theory while preparing for a final performance

THE BROADWAY CABARET
Singing, acting, dancing, and plenty of fun! This high energy Camp gives performers the chance to strengthen healthy vocal technique, learn Dynamic choreography, and discover how to bring their unique personality to the stage. During one exciting and intensive week, students will build essential skills to become more confident, well-rounded performers.
This camp is a must for musical theater performers and the actors looking to expand their talents while having an unforgettable Summer experience. Live accompaniment helps performers to develop their own interpretations, connect deeply with the music, and truly let their light shine on stage.

NATALIE JAMES
Natalie James is a dedicated and passionate vocal instructor who helps singers of all levels build confidence, strengthen technique, and discover their unique artistic voice. She is the Choral Program Director at Phoenixville High School and is pursuing a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy at Westminster Choir College, renowned for its voice science and teaching excellence. She also holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education (Voice Concentration).
A true triple threat, Miss James brings over 20 years of professional dance experience to the classroom and stage. She has taught ballet, jazz, tap, modern, and contemporary at an international school of dance and has choreographed multiple musicals, summer camps, and international competition pieces. Her professional dance affiliations include Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and the Donetsk Ballet Company of Ukraine.
Whether you’re learning to read music for the first time, polishing performance skills, or preparing for the next stage, her goal is to make every rehearsal creative, empowering, and fun—so students feel prepared, expressive, and ready to shine.
PRIVATE PIANO
College Piano Prep
Every session will include:
Intensive scale work, arpeggio work, sight-reading exercises, technique, and muscle-building exercises
Repertoire requirements for multiple chosen colleges
Music history for understanding each musical time period
Interpreting the stylistic idioms for each piece
I will help with recordings for each audition and will ensure the student is following all guidelines for each individual school.

*Add 15 minutes to your regular lessons to spend extra time on audition song, stage presence, movement, and monologues.
THEORY TIME!
*Add 15 minutes to the end of your lesson to spend time on the Full Voice Theory for Singers. This will also benefit middle school and high school singers for choirs + college placement tests.
PRIVATE Performer

MEDITATION THROUGH MUSIC
This is a class designed for the beginner as well as a novice who just needs a little quiet time. A sacred class that honors the creative journey, you will experience a sense of peace; a musical focus to help you learn about yourself; and a nurturing inner journey of self love.
HANNAH FRANCES
My daughter Hannah Frances is an internationally-acclaimed touring and recording artist, as well as a teacher and creative counselor. She facilitates songwriting workshops a few times a year.
